Falco chicquera - Red-necked Falcon



This species is uncommon. It inhabits grasslands in open country with low rainfall regions in India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Nepal from the sea level up to 1,400m. The Indian population breeds during January-May. It mostly forages on small birds (BirdLife International 2016).

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining, and its current population size is unknown. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to commercial developments and pollution (BirdLife International 2016).
