Rhyticeros narcondami - Narcondam Hornbill
This endemic species is rare. It inhabits undisturbed dense forests of Narcondam island of the east Andaman, mostly nesting below 200m asl (BirdLife International 2017).
Conservation Status:
This species is listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/). According to the IUCN Red List Assessment, the population of this species is stable since 1998, with the current population size estimated at 50-249 individuals. The threat to its persistence comes from cutting trees and predator attacks by feral cats (BirdLife International 2017).
