A large wintering goose, It has distinct double black band on the head and white line on its grey neck. Its bright yellow bill has a black tip. Its blackish flight feathers with grey body are distinctive in flight. It grazes on grass and can be spotted from late November till march.
Best sighted at wetlands large lakes and water bodies .It is mainly seen in North India, Assam and Orissa
