Pavo cristatus

One bird I always wanted to see was the Indian peacock I got to see it at the manas national park at west assam at the border of Bhutan.
The peacock is the most beautiful bird with glistering blue neck. The beauty of this bird is when it opens its feathers is a sign of inviting the female for sex.
The national bird of India it is a beauty to be watched at leisure. The shimmering and flickering blue green plumage of the male comprises of the longest spectacular tail, which has copper, green and blue discs. The half sized brownish female lacks all of these and has a white face and throat. It has little of the males metallic green sheen at the back of its long neck.
The food is mainly worms, small snakes, lizards.
Voice loud high pitched may yow at dawn and during rains
