This species is uncommon and endemic to the Nancowry islands of the Nicobar Islands. It inhabits the primary and secondary forests of the islands. It possibly nests during February-April (BirdLife International 2016).
Conservation Status:

According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the population of this species is declining, with the current population estimate of 1,500-1,700 individuals. The threat to its persistence comes from habitat disturbance due to forest clearance for agriculture and infrastructure development (BirdLife International 2016).
